we are happy

cooking technique week 1: Steaming; day6

today I made steamed paneer dumplings. vibrant colors in the plate 🙂 ids loved them… they tried to help me to make the balls but found it a little difficult… used all the techniques they know but as it was not dough they were unable to make balls. but that did not discouraged them to eat these lovely balls.

cooking technique week 1: Steaming; day2

I had to make them; as when I asked DH about the steaming challenge the first thing he said was cook momos. So here is my second day with steaming and I prepared momos.

My daughters love these and when they saw these they said; “mummy khane ke liye shukriya“. (Thanks for the food) Doremon effect 🙂

cooking technique week 1: Steaming; day 1

I have challenged myself for cooking with techniques this year. I’ll take a technique and cook something with that daily for one week.
This is first week and I am starting with the most easy and healthy one; steaming.

I am starting with Ami Kozhkatai; a dish waiting for years in my to cook one day list.

My kids and DH loved it. Kids loved to eat more as they helped me to make the balls in the kitchen and that increased their curiosity of eating it.

A delima

Now that my daughters are about to complete two years in their school, we have to decide on how they will work on the coming year. Usually the children, in their school,in third year are trained according to the traditional schools so that when they go to a big school, they are mentally ready for it.

now the head of the school called me and asked me about my plans about the kids. She wants them to continue for one more year before they go to the classroom kind of environment; that means they will take two more years before going to the 1st standard.

According to her if they will continue for one more year in Montessori system they are going to be more independent and confident when they reach at the 1st std.

We have time till the month of march to see how they are doing and what to do. But the delima  is that on the pace Aaku is doing she will surely reach the bar to go in the classroom next year , on the other hand I don’t see Achu anywhere near  there. So if till the end of session if Achu is not reaching to that point we’ll have to hold Aaku also. The reason is that if only one of them is going in the classroom session next year, it is going to leave negative mark on the other!

I have time till second week of march to think!

I think they both will continue with Montessori system next year also!

Hummingbird doily

This was in my to do list for a long time, and I am happy that I finally made this. This is Hummingbird Irish Rose doily, I remember the pattern name only; forgot from where I got this pattern. It is not as fine as the original but I am happy with the result, as I did not do this for this long time just thinking that it would not come nice.

In this background it is looking like embroidery, isn’t it?
