Finally something to share

Today I finished stitching this Kurta for my friend. She wanted a potli button front neck design. I think it looks good, isn’t it?

After I pressed and folded it, I remembered that I have not posted here for a long time. I grabbed my phone and clicked this pic.

I still need feedback on the fitting of it as I have to hand over it to my friend.

It’s not that I am not doing anything at all. I had been busy with kids for their summer holidays. Sadly this year we didn’t do much together. Kids did some crafting here and there but it was all unplanned; so not much to share.

I started some knitting projects recently, I’ll be posting about them in my next post. Till that time “happy crafting” 🙂

Just finished the edging for a Saree pallu. First ever by me☺ I have done the tassel edging for some tablecloths but never for a Saree. I plan to do a beaded edging for my next saree.. maybe beaded tassels.

Card trick

Here is my next block done

image

I did finish it last week itself but couldn’t write about it till now.
I got a bit carried away while doing this block and didn’t check the instruction notes properly. It’s outer edge having six wedges of pattern was also the confusion factor. I joined the middle card circle completely and made ring of the wedges and then joined the two pieces in one. While the instructions say to make the two block halves and join them in two in last step.
Got a lesson to read the instructions in complete calmness before starting to sew.
I still have not decided on my next block. Maybe today I’ll do that and start by tomorrow.

Tried machine applique

These cute slippers are embellished on my daughter’s tee. She got this tee from her friend just a month ago.  On her first day of wearing it, she dropped  her medicine  on it and spoiled it

image

I thought of using liquid embroidery to hide the stain but my local shops didn’t have the tubes. So I used machine applique to hide the stains.
And now she has a new tee

Evening at the pond

image

Finished my evening at the pond block. This is the second block of ’round the year’ quilt blocks series posted on Betukbandihttp://betukbandi.wordpress.com
I had started stitching these blocks last year when the series was proposed on fb, but I couldn’t do more than two blocks last year.
I had taken the layout print last year itself for this block. So all I did for the last three days was to piece the tamplates, cut the fabric and assembled the block. Tried my best to get neat finishing, which is not my expertise.
The block is a square block, but I am planning to make cushion covers . So I am leaving it circular till my next step 🙂

Filling the gap

After more than a month of no craft related activity, I am trying to pick up on my craft goals for the year. I have to finish 52 craft projects in 2016 and I want to complete at least this goal for the year. About other goals for this year, I don’t remember if I did think of any personal goal as I was struggling with health issues..
Coming back to the topic… here is a teaser of my work right now

Along with

this I am finishing some knitting which I’ll show once done.

A crafty day

I mostly do craft things unplanned… it’s like anytime if I feel like making a thing I’ll start immediately. If I don’t, the idea or plan never comes to life. Yesterday I thought of finishing some pending sewing. It’s a dress half done. But when I checked the draft I was not able to connect with that, one piece was missing. I started looking for the missing piece and ended up with bringing out the fabric scraps with plan of doing something with them. I started with a small patchwork pincushion

and later started for a patchwork cover for my sewing machine.

I tried doing a bit of quilting as well on the patchwork and I think I did good as a beginner 😆

A gift in an hour

I needed a quick gift for a boy.. what a challenge. If it was a girl I could do many things but when it comes to a gift for a boy the options are limited. Then I remembered this idea of car play mat I saw on pinterest.. and after that it was just a matter of what material I had. I had felt sheets not too big but big enough to make the play mat. Kids were super excited to see me working on the project and helped me by giving quick ideas of where to place what.. and what’s the best part… the recipient liked it

New covers for my dining chairs

The last time I went to RCPuram I bought fabric to stich new dining chair covers. And it was two years back. I didn’t get the push to start stitching untill last month. Yes I stitched the covers last month and blogging now.. I know I am being too lazy. But finally here they are

image

I had an idea of having open covers with ties on sides inspired by pinterest but changed the idea and finally ended up with the one side zipper closing. We need things safe and secured when have kids who act more like monkeys than human.
I am super happy with the outcome and the fact that even dh loved them 🙂
